Several strategies have been devised for effective working of drug de-addiction, which include:
OPD Services :
Jagirti drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre makes available six-day OPD services in a week to the patients of addiction between 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. A team of doctor, counseller, social workers and recovered persons and recovering patients (P.E) always remains there to give medical treatment along with psycho-social counselling. The centre also arranges the supportive and motivational counselling to the attendants and sympathizers of the patient.
Medical examination of the patients has been conducted by medical practitioner and facilities for relevant tests also provided as and when it is required. If the drug addict needs indoor treatment, he is to be admitted and under proper medical care for his treatment, otherwise he is to be referred to an appropriate or higher centre for the treatment.
Indoor Services :
The centre is mainly, involved to provide treatment to intoxicated and inebriated persons to de-addict them and make them able to readjust and rehabilitate in the society. The patients who need indoor treatment are being kept for 1-3 months. Relevant assistance is provided through medical personnel, counsellor, social; worker, nurse, ward boy, Yoga therapists, P.Es and others to the patients and their family members.
Besides it professional and technical approach, the process of indoor treatment involves individual counselling, Group counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, behaviour modification therapy, family assistance programme, Home visits, picnics, visit to AA, NA groups for the de-addiction and rehabilitation of the victims of intoxication.
After Care Programmes :
After recovery of drug patients, the centre renders help in readjustment in the family, community and society at large, through counselling, advice and attitude formation. The centre adopts follow up course on regular basis and works for relapse prevention and recovery maintenance.
Awareness Programme:
Alongwith above mentioned programmes, the Association undertakes awareness programmes and reaches general masses through interaction and advocacy with educational institutions, social organizations, religious groups and social activists of different shades. The association actively arrange the debates and symposiums relating to various problems arising out from addiction, on some important occasions like “26 June, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, “31 May, No Tobacco day”, “1 December, World AIDS day”, “2 October, Gandhi Jayanti”, “14 April Ambedkar birth day”, “15 August Independence day” and “26 January, Republic day”. On these occasions the Association arranges, seminar, symposiums, picture-photographs exhibition, corner meeting and health camps for general awareness.
Different Awareness Programmes Launched by the Organization:
The Association Arranged numerous progremme relating prevention of HIV/AIDS, and, awareness against Drug Abuse under project of the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) and Targetted intervention (TI). Such organized Programme were also encompassed the spirit of the youths and adolescents and in particular, they were educated for the measures to be adopted for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse. The Association organized various progremme in several villages of Meerut district, like Health Camps, Corner Drama and rallies etc. with the cooperation, aid and assistance of ICTC, the Association made available the facilities and opportunities for HIV test, campaign, also, be done against Drug Abuse and Addiction.
